One of the things I love to do with friends is go to see live music at cocktail lounges, particularly jazz lounges. I have a passion for finding a great seasonal drink or discovering a perfect concoction to enhance the vibe. I wanted to compile a list of martini recipes that I felt fit a fun spring and summery vibe for cocktails with friends or social hour. I plan to continue this series into autumn, already have some recipes lined up, and into winter as well. I would hope to one day have a martini recipe book, but until then, I have more recipes to experiment with.
Makeup and beauty have always been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. I would steal my mom’s makeup and loved playing with her lipsticks. I grew up doing baton twirling, and I finally convinced my mom to do my makeup for a performance. I have been in love with it ever since. During the 2016 makeup era, I was locked into YouTube, watching the iconic BabsBeauty, Laura Lee, Manny MUA, Jaclyn Hill, KathleenLights, etc. I swear I can still smell the Two Faced Chocolate Bar Palette (my favorite eyeshadow palette). Don’t even get me started on the original Urban Decay Naked Palette.
I love experimenting with makeup looks, so I wanted to add my two cents to the drugstore frosted lip craze. Pamela Anderson and all the ‘90s baddies have such iconic looks that everyone is still obsessed with them to this day.
I have also loved fashion as long as I can remember. My mom, my OG corporate baddie, would take me along shopping, where I would be her worst influence and her styling critic. Growing up in a small city in Texas, I always felt behind the curve with fashion. However, I was addicted to YouTube, where I followed many fashion influencers. I dreamed of designer purses and, in high school, even made a chemistry periodic table project, but about designer bags. Then, moving to South Alabama, I learned about a whole other side of fashion.
My fashion taste is a jumbled hodgepodge of all the places I’ve been and hope to be.
Because my tastes are such a blend, I’ve recently been loving shopping secondhand for unique pieces to elevate my wardrobe. After the clean girl era and reliable pieces, I'm moving on to find my statement pieces and vintage finds; Depop is the perfect place.
Colorful, dramatic, glittery makeup is everywhere. There is a revival in Y2K makeup, and it’s continually expanding into the ‘90s, ‘80s, and ‘70s. All your favorite makeup trends are coming back, but better than ever. Summer’s return to colorful makeup has me wondering what happens when the season changes. Do we put away the shimmer with our swimsuits, or give it a moodier palette? I’m betting on a little darker, a little smokier, and possibly a little witchier.
